The right to bear arms and peaceful assembly
« Reply #1 on: September 27, 2009, 11:35:21 AM »
I started this in another forum-that I wish I had the money to buy an assault rifle and one those super-cool handmade 50 caliber revolvers. Just because I'm afraid the current administration may take away my right to won them guaranteed by that old document they ignore all the time called the Constitution.

I really wish (it's legal, takes about 3-6 months of permits) I had the $10K to $30K to buy a real live machine gun. Whether a Thompson (just because I always wanted one-but a good one is hard to come buy since they are collectors items, and not really very accurate and only good at close range). But there are less expensive fully-auto weapons you can legally own with the proper paperwork, and if it wasn't $30K + I'd even love one of those "Rambo" style belt fed machine guns. I'd hope I never needed it, but I should have the right to own it. Many people don't realize that the Constitution didn't give us the "right to bear arms" just to hunt...the founding fathers put it in there in case we ever needed to defend ourselves from the government THEY were creating (they were smart and knew things could go wrong-knowing nothing's perfect, even though they tried very hard.)
With my small income I'll probably never be able to buy any of them; but I do believe in the right to establish a "militia" if done for legal reason as the Constitution allows, not the neo-Nazi crazies, but in case the citizens couldn't be "protected" by the law enforcement "as is".

Has anybody but me noticed that our current military's weapons besides Air Force & Navy are all designed for URBAN use? Unmanned remote-control spy planes can at 10,000 ft. can tell the headlines of the paper you are reading as you sit in the park, as if satellites couldn't do it, but you can't move a satellite as fast as a robo-plane (the "Predator). Now they are working on versions that will fly preprogrammed missions with no human control needed... just "looking".
60-70 MPH armed troop carriers & such. Numerous such "carriers capable of seeing and hearing through walls. We have created the greatest "urban" fighting force ever...why? I thought we were getting out of Iraq, so why will we need all these urban weapons?
The "patriot act" (what an oxymoron) took away your right to search warrants by "just cause", judges having to approve wire taps (now they can just do it) most Americans were mad at the terrorists and didn't realize we gave away all these rights guaranteed by the Constitution when they signed that into law--and it's coming up for renewal right now.
 And it will pass...
I am also afraid that if there are not some form of legal militia's "just in case" we need them who could assemble and assess the security situation in their neighbothood or city.
We may not have enough "protection" as inflation soars and people will kill for food or such because this debt is coming due already. A few weeks ago China (who hold the largest % of our national debt) started converting OUR debt into Euros because it's a more stable currency...wake up America, if they are afraid of losing the value China has invested in our country what about the money we and generations to come must pay while continuing to print worthless paper money to create the illusion there is money out there--while all it does is make every dollar worth even less in buying power... the world is going crazy and I believe "Thou shalt not kill" but if it's to defend my wife and children, that becomes a "no-brainer.
